Materials Needed:

  • Cardboard Tubes
  • Pencils
  • Scissors
  • Washi Tape
  • Stirrers (Which we get for free from a coffee shop, but you can use  Skewers too)
  • Markers
  • Tissue Paper
  • Clear Tape
  • Tempera Paint and brushes

Let's Make Some Cardboard Toilet Roll Flowers

Draw 2 lines down your toilet roll tube to divide the tube in thirds.  Cut off one third (to shorten the tube) and then cut slits in another third (to make petals).

Then, grab your Tempera Paint and paint your petals.

You can also paint your skewers now too. But we forgot and just ended up coloring them in with markers and decorating them with Washi Tape.

Once the paint dries, make a small snip on the bottom of your flower.  Then, scrunch a piece of tissue paper and squeeze it into the hole.  Push your stirrer in and then tape everything together in place.

Then, just find a tin can, decorate it with more washi tape ant stick your flowers in.  To make our flowers stay in place, I first inserted a piece of packing styrofoam inside.  Then, I just pushed the flowers in!

Hope you have a fun time trying this craft out with your kiddos!  This would be a lovely craft to make and then give.  They certainly would brighten up someone else's day!
