DIY Wooden Block Dolls

We've had a box of wooden blocks gathering dust in our closet for a couple of weeks now.  Recently I tried breathing life into them with this fun craft.  We made our own Wooden block dolls!  Armed with stickers and Sharpies, we transformed plain jane blocks into cute characters.  Aren't they adorable?  I love how they're full of personality and charm.

How to Make Your Own Wooden Block Dolls

Grab your Wooden BlocksSharpiescircle stickers, and Washi Tape.  Then, have a ball creating different characters and objects.

Two notes:

  • We used old blocks, so I didn't mind doodling on them with Sharpie.  If that's a problem for you, be sure to tell your kids to just draw on the stickers.
  • Our characters are meant to be temporary. But if you want to keep your characters looking good for longer, then just wrap the blocks with packing tape. That should keep the stickers on for awhile.
Here's a photo of our process:

It's been raining a lot here lately, so this activity was the perfect way to spend a night.

This activity would also go really nicely with these fun shape picture books:
