Painted Accordion Butterflies

The series of butterfly crafts continues! I made these gorgeous painted butterflies with a couple of preschoolers last week and they had a lot of fun carefully painting all the accordion folds. Here's how we made them!

Materials Needed:

  • White Paper (Should be thicker than computer paper)
  • Watercolors and brushes
  • Piper Cleaners
  • Scissors
  • Stapler

Directions:

1. Cut a sheet of paper in half.

2. Accordion fold one half-sheet lengthwise and the other half-sheet horizontally.

3. Fold each accordion-folded sheet of paper and cut the edges like so:

4. Staple the two accordion-folded sheets together to create butterflies!

5. Grab your watercolors and paint away!

6. When your paint dries, wrap pipe cleaners around the center.
