Spooky Chalk Stencil Halloween Haunted Houses

Ok.  I realize that Halloween is several months away.  But I made this city skyline scene with my son and thought... wait a moment... this would be a great Halloween craft to do with kids!   Whaddya think?  The chalk gives the picture an eerie feeling... don't you think?

I originally saw this idea for smeared chalk stencil art from my bloggy friend Chelsey from Buggy and Buddy.  (She shared this really clever idea to make Christmas lights using the technique.  So definitely check her blog out for that idea and more awesome ways to create with kids!)

Here's how we made spooky Haunted Houses!

First, I cut out a house stencil from cardstock.  Then, we grabbed our chalk and traced the houses onto black paper.

We also used glitter glue and dot stickers for stars and white rectangle labels for windows.

Then to create the spooky glow, we just rubbed the edges with our finger or a q-tip!
