New Year's Pipe Cleaner Crown and Headband

Are you ready for the new year?

I can't believe that 2014 is right around the corner.  I feel like December just flew by and whoa, now I've gotta make time to reflect on what happened and look forward to life's wonderful new possibilities.

Like last year, hubby, Chuck, and I will be showing our party animal selves.  Oh yes.  We're celebrating the new year in the middle of Times Square  at home.  When the clock strikes midnight Chuck will be sleeping and hubby and I will be sitting in front of the tv, watching the ball drop (and fighting off sleep... )

To help get us into the celebratory mood, I whipped up this sparkly pipe cleaner crown and headband.  (Because nothing says "Celebrate!" like something sparkly and gold, am I right?)

Keep on reading to see how I made these guys:

Make a 2014 Pipe Cleaner Headband

  • Paper
  • Pen/Marker
  • Headband
  • Sparkly Pipe Cleaners
  • Scissors

1.  Write out the number 2014 in the size that would look nice on your headband.

2.  Using your numbers as a guideline, bend your pipe cleaners into a 2, 0, 1, and 4.   Make sure to leave a little extra tail on your 1 and 4 so you can wrap it onto your headband.

3.  Use smaller pieces of pipe cleaner (or the extra tail bits) to attach the numbers to your headband.

Now you're ready to party!

Make a sparkly Pipe cleaner Crown

  • Sparkly gold pipe cleaners
  • Scissors

1.  First you're going to make the part that goes around your head.  Twist several pipe cleaners together.  Measure the length against your head to make sure that your crown will fit.

2.  Now you're going to make the pointy bits.  Bend several pipe cleaners into "M" shapes, making sure that they're the same size to create a uniform look.  Also, try to leave little extra tail bits on both sides to anchor the points in place.  Then, twist your "M"s onto your base.

3.  Trim off any dangling annoying excess bits and and then twist both sides of your crown together.

Happy crafting!
