Easy Script Name Skeletons

Some days you just need an easy and fun activity to bond with the kiddos.  Our household always feels hectic at this time of the year. (Ok, who am I kidding?  It feels hectic year round... Oy!)  So I came up with this fun Halloween activity to create and connect with my eldest son.   Lately he's been learning to write script letters, so he loved making his own Script Name Skeleton with me.

Looking for more Bone themed activities?

By the way,  if you're looking for bone activities, here are two other great ones to do!

Materials Needed:

  • Markers
  • White Paper
  • Scissors
  • Glue Stick
  • Black Paper
  • White Crayon

Let's Make Some Script Skeletons!

Here's who we did this activity-

First, I folded up a sheet of paper in half.  Then, we wrote our names on the paper along the fold.  (My apologies for the pale writing. I wrote in pencil first, but then changed my mind and did pen later.)

Then, we cut out our names.  (Note that we left plenty of space around our letters.  There's no need to be perfect about cutting here.  We're just creating a lovely shape.  Also, be sure to leave some of the folded portion still attached!)

When we opened up our names, we got some awesome symmetric designs.

Then, we looked at pictures of skeletons online and glued our names onto black paper to be the skeleton's rib cage.   (Clever, right?)

Then we glued on (or drew on) the other bones.

Here's my resulting skeleton:

And here's my son's-

This is the perfect activity to do on a weekend or after school because it's easy to set up, and really fun to do.   (Plus, you're learning something too when you practice handwriting, observe skeletons, and draw them.  Handwriting, science, and art all in one activity.  How cool is that?)

And, if your child isn't writing script, you could easily adapt this activity to print letters too!

Hopefyou enjoy trying it out with your kiddos too!

Happy making, friends!
