Easy Recycled Gnome Sun catcher Craft

We love making easy kid-friendly suncatcher and stained glass crafts! They're especially fun in the winter when everything outside seems cold and grey. When I saw this adorable gnome sun catcher on Etsy, I knew we had the perfect inspiration to make our very own kid-friendly holiday version. Tada!

How to Make an Easy Recycled Gnome Sun Catcher

They're so cute!!!

(I love hanging out with my gnomies. It's the only hanging out that we're allowed to do. Oy. Quarantine humor..)

Materials Needed:

  • Clear Plastic (From a container)
  • Piece of Paper
  • Pencil/ Pen
  • Sharpie Markers (Black + Other Colors)
  • Scissors
  • Clear Tape
  • Optional: This Free Gnome Printable (If you don't want to draw your own gnome. Again, many thanks to Darlene for creating such an adorable garden gnome suncatcher. Check out her Etsy shop for this stained glass ornament and others!)

Let's Make a Gnome!

1. Draw a picture of your gnome on a piece of paper. (Or use my printable.)
2. Use Black Sharpie to trace your gnome. Write a letter on top of your gnome. (This will help you to see which side has the black Sharpie on it.)

3. Flip your drawing over! (Your letter should now be backward.)

4. Use colorful Sharpies to color your gnome in. (You have to flip the plastic over so that you don't smear your original black drawing when you color your gnome in.)

5. Cut your gnome out and then tape it to a window.

Happy creating!
