Make Your Own Spotty Dotty Game!

These days our family is always rush, rush, rushing.  Ever feel like that?  Whenever we do get a moment to breathe I plan to make something with my eldest.... but then the baby ends up needing me for something too.  So lately projects have to be quick and fun.  Last weekend we created this simple DIY board game using materials that we already had around the house.  It was really neat putting it together and making up our own game!

Our Current Favorite Games

We love playing games around here.  My son's current favorite is Uno, but we also enjoy board games too like Dinosaur Escape and Race To the Treasure.

Let's Make a Board Game!

This Spotty Dotty Board game uses circle stickers to create the game board and die.

First, I drew two dots on a piece of paper and labeled them "start" and "finish."  Then, My son drew out a path to get from one to the other.

Then, we grabbed our circle stickers and created a colorful path.  (Hmm... kinda reminds you of Candy Land, huh?)

(We didn't put the colors in any particular order, but we did try to include similar amounts of each color.)

We then drew a background for our game and added the circle stickers to a wooden block to make our die.

He drew the designs and then I colored them in.  Then, we rolled our die and got to play!  (Oh! I don't show it here, but we used Lego Minifigures as our game pieces.)

More easy (mess-free) ways to create and connect with the kiddos-

Happy making, friends!
