Bow tie onsies

This weekend I finished sewing bow ties on these onesies:

The ladies are going to find Baby irresistible!

Mini hubby

I may have found my next baby craft.
Isn't this a cute idea for a onesie?

Hmm, who else wears bow ties?.

Elephant mobile

After several trips  to the craft store and the thrift store (and several hours of sewing), we finally completed our mobile:

Hmm, do the elephants resemble dumplings?

Now... onto the next baby craft...

Mobiles on my mind

I'm making a mobile to hang above baby's crib, so  I turned to the internet for some diy inspiration:

These birds are so cute!

Oooh-  I could use embroidery hoops!

I'm drawn to these cheery colorful elephants... hmm...

Ooh- stylized elephants!

Not sure if I'll use this design, but this Calder mobile is AWESOME nonetheless.

Armed with inspiration, I'm off to the thrift store and craft store to scout out materials!

6 bucks

Whenever hubby and I visit the thrift store, we always scope out the baby clothing section.  It's always filled to the brim with rows and rows of baby clothes.  Some items are a bit ratty, but many are in quite good condition!  So, even though baby is only 15 inches right now (and still in my belly), we're picking up some pieces that he'll fit into (one day).  Here are four items that what we scored for only $6.00!

So tiny and cute (I wonder if Charlie could fit in one?)

I think Hubby owns a similar pair of pants

A faux shearling coat with paws?  Too cute to resist.
Baby, we can't wait to meet (and dress) you!

belly update

My "innie" belly button is slowly becoming an "outie"!
Next year we'll get baby some tiny klompen.

I succumbed.

Last week was finals week and I was super busy responding to students' emails, giving finals, and grading.  To give myself a break from the work, I visited our nearby thrift store.  Look at what I found!

Hello!  We're too cute to resist.

I promised myself that I wouldn't buy any baby clothes until much later, but I really couldn't resist when I saw these two play outfits.

Happy Mother's Day!

just how big are you?

Lots of friends and family have been asking me this question lately.  I try to answer by telling them how much weight I've gained or that I now proudly wear maternity pants.  However, I'm not sure these answers ever really get the point across.

They say that an image is worth a thousand words.  So, here are two thousand words of description:

jean jacket- loehmann's
pin- thrifted
dress- thrifted
tights- target
shoes- thrifted

belly update

A stranger asked me when I was expecting.
I've now passed the "pudgy around the middle" stage.

This little guy is growing bigger too!

Bedtime reading

I love children's storybooks.  I love their simple plots and colorful illustrations.  Now that we're going to have a baby soon, I'm keeping my eyes peeled for some new ones to add to my collection.  Hubby recently spied this book on Amazon.

It contains beautiful illustrations and lyrical verses like

The cats nestle close to their kittens now.
The lambs have laid down with the sheep.
You're cozy and warm in your bed, my dear
Please go the f*ck to sleep.

Hmm, to buy or not to buy?  It is on sale...

We've hit the 20 week mark!
It's almost time to find out baby's gender...

Special delivery

Earlier this week I received a package of maternity clothes from Hubby's cousin.  They came at just the right time.  My pants were getting so tight that it hurt to button them up.  Hubby joked that baby was going to be born with a waistband imprinted onto its forehead.

The results of my impromptu fashion show.  Charlie gave the outfits two paws up.

First Easter

Driving by the mall we saw plenty of signs announcing the arrival of the Easter Bunny.  Excited to have baby take part in this holiday tradition, hubby and I arranged an informal photo shoot at home.

Quiz time

Q:  What does this sequence represent?

Pickle, cookie, cookie, pickle, cookie, cookie

     (a) nothing
     (b) a new type of diet
     (c) my afternoon snack

Answer:
(c)  Before I could stop myself, I popped this strange sequence of items into my mouth for a tasty afternoon snack.  My stomach apparently has a mind of its own.

Belly graph

Last week I noticed a change in my students' attention.  Instead of looking at my face when I was lecturing, many stared at my belly.  I think I'm beginning to show.

Thoughts

Sometimes it seems like all I think about  is food- what I've eaten, what I'd like to eat, or what I'm actually going to eat.

Hmm, upon further reflection... perhaps this comic strip shows me endorsing cannibalism. Ick.
