Congratsusagna

I recently heard some great news from two people.  One good friend recently was offered 2 jobs in California and a cousin just passed the final part of his ordination exam.  I was so happy I baked them a congratsusagna.

What, dear reader?  You've never heard of a congratsusagna?   Well, let me educate you.

Official Pink Stripey Socks definition:
Congratsusagna  (kənˌgrætjʊˈzän'yə) n.

Congratulations guys.  I'm so happy for you both.  :)

Proposal is a 12 point word

One of my good friends loves playing Scrabble.  If someone were to propose to her, he might do it like this:

How do I love thee?

Today my hubby and I are going to visit a new thrift store.  I love thrift stores.  I love hunting through items.  I love finding interesting items.  And I especially love seeing how little everything costs.  When I'm at the thrift store, I'm not a shopper...I'm an explorer, an archaeologist, and a treasure hunter. :)  Move over old ladies, there's a new thrift store shopper in town.

So, inspired by my love of thrift stores (and the great poet Elizabeth Barrett Browning), I've written out this poem proclaiming my love.

Oh thrift stores, how do I love thee?  Let me count the ways.
For inside your stores, I have oft stayed.
I love thy rows and rows of clothes,
Browns, Purples, Pinks, and gold.
I love thy jewelery counter, covered by glass
Where pins, earrings, and necklaces are stashed.
I love thy shoes, oft hidden out of sight
Where gingerly I place my left foot and right.
I love thy pottery, dishes, and knickknacks,
Furniture, purses, and other bricka brack.
And lastly, as we are in the season of fall,
I love thy coats, mittens, and scarves most of all.
With all these possibilities, with thrift stores galore
Verily, I am becoming a happy clothes whore.

Steak Haiku

I love eating steak
Sizzling on my kitchen grill
Charred and peppery

Here's a picture of the mammoth t-bone steak I ate tonight.  Tasty.
