Funny Asian signs

Attention!  Attention!  We've found other Asians in Western Michigan!!!  Unlike the mythical unicorn or Loch Ness Monster, they exist.  We saw them chowing down at a dim sum restaurant in Grand Rapids.

Who knew that seeing groups of black heads and hearing warbling Asian pop music could make a person so happy?

To celebrate this new finding, here are some interesting Asian food labels and signs:

Crackers that taste like fried chicken?  This could be the best invention ever.

Who knew you could sell magic mushrooms legally?

I wonder what nude tastes like...

Fancy canned meat?  Seems like an oxymoron

Vampires and young children

After seeing my all my nieces and nephews this Christmas, I realized two things:
(1)     I love them very much.
(2)    Young children are like vampires.

Here are six reasons why children are similar to vampires.

Reason 1:  They’re super strong.

Reason 2:  They're super fast.

Reason 3:  They suck your…energy.

Reason 4:  They don’t sleep at night.
*Repeat this scene at 4:00, 5:30, 6:15, and 7:00

Reason 5:  They’re incredibly good looking.
No matter what the parents look like, their offspring is always cute

Lastly, reason 6:  They can control your mind.
Don't stare into his eyes, or you too will fall under his spell

An Inwood send-off

Before stepping into 2011, I took a quick look back to Inwood, our previous New York City neighborhood.

(Cue nostalgic music of your choice... mine is the theme song to Forrest Gump.)

Our apartment building ($1,000 for a first floor 1br- what a steal!)

An open hydrant one summer's day  (which Charlie and I also enjoyed a bit later)

The awesome A train:  Like LOTR, its entrance is carved into a mountain
The church we attended:  I met such wonderful ladies here when I helped out at their thrift store

To honor our favorite Inwood restaurant, Alberto's Mofongo House, hubby made this Dominican inspired supper.

Que delicioso!  I do love me some beans, pork, and rice.

Adios New York!  Holland, we're here to stay and ready to make some new happy memories.

He's baack

Charlie's back from his stay at the Pet Hotel.  We're so glad to have him home.  Though we trusted the employees to care for him, we worried he would have a terrible time.

Perhaps my fears were a bit exaggerated.

Hubby's fears seem a bit more realistic

Luckily, we were both wrong.  He did great.
