Tape Resist Ant Art!
Are you going buggy over spring? Well, then today the preschool collaborators and I have 5 preschool bug activities that you'll absolutely love. We've been digging ants lately, so I thought it would be fun to combine art and science to make some tape resist ant art!
(And if you're looking for even more bug crafts, check out these egg carton bugs and my

Kid Science: Studying Bird Beaks
Now that it's spring, I feel a severe kick in the bum to start doing more nature and science themed activities with Chuck. There's something really cool about seeing blossoms, birds, bees, and bugs (whoa- bs!) all around. We recently visited our nearby natural history museum and Chuck spent quite a bit of time playing with a bird beak activity. It was so simple and fun that I had to share it here!

Paper Bag Bunny Pinata
Last weekend we attended a friend's Easter party. It was so fun! The kids dyed eggs, played with play dough, went on an egg hunt, and broke open a paper bag bunny pinata. What? Yup. I know, Easter isn't usually associated with pinatas, but I made this super quick and easy pinata from a paper bag to add a bit more fun for the little guys.
Happy creating, friends!

Chinese New Year Dragon Puppet
Chinese New Year is coming soon! We've been so engrossed in Valentine's day crafts lately, that I almost forgot about the holiday. But today we're rectifying that mistake. Last year we made these 2 really easy dragon puppets. (Definitely check them out because they were super cute and super easy. Plus, I included free printable templates!)
This year we're keeping with the dragon theme and making this Chinese New Year Dragon Puppet from recycled cardboard! It's an upgraded version of last year's craft because you can actually move this dragon around!

Valentine, you set my heart aflutter
Last week I shared about our new fascination with butterflies. (You can read about it and see our fluttering butterfly kid craft here.) My mind was still on butterflies when I came up with this idea for a DIY butterfly notebook.
You can easily make this butterfly notebook from items lying around your home. Plus, it would be a nice handmade gift to give someone for Valentine's Day too. (It even fits into our 10 funny pun-y Valentine's Day craft series!)
You can see my first funny, pun-y craft here (Craft 1: "You Rock My World" Rocks).

Fluttering Butterfly Craft!
Hello friends! Today I wanted to share this really neat fluttering butterfly craft that I recently did with Chuck. We cut out, painted, and folded butterflies that flutter when you move them! (We also made some lovely butterfly notebooks too!) The whole process entertained Chuck for quite awhile, so I thought other kids might like it too!
I know it's winter, and most people are doing winter crafts with their kids, but honestly, I just haven't had the heart to do so. Our weather is right now in the 60s which is totally bizarre to me. I'm used to cold, wet, or snowy winters.... not cool, sunny ones. It's very weird ... but I'm thankful for the sun and warmth!
This butterfly craft was inspired by our local butterfly grove. Nearby our home is a plot of land where monarch butterflies migrate to during the winter. How neat is that? Last week we hiked up to the butterfly grove and saw thousands of butterflies, clumped together in tree branches. It was a pretty amazing sight. (And I WISH I could have taken photos of them, but they were just too high up to get a decent shot.) One of the other children at the park found a dead butterfly on the ground and showed everyone. Chuck really wanted to find one of his own, but we never did. So I came up with this craft so that he could have his very own fluttering butterfly.

Snake puppets!
Looking for a fun snake craft? Yup. Chuck still digs snakes. Now, we've made our fair share of snake crafts around here... (Check out our twisty snake sculpture, moveable cardboard snake, and bubble snakes!) But today I thought I'd just share a really easy snake puppet that I recently made for him!

Make a set of Shark Teeth!
Lately Chuck's wanted to make cardboard toys that move and do things! That's fine with me, because I really enjoyed making moveable snakes, rocket launchers, paper slingshots, and climbing cardboard circus men with him. Currently he's OBSESSED with sharks. So I came up with this quick and easy egg carton shark craft.

(By the way, according to Chuck this snake is very poisonous. I can vouch for that. It's bitten me and I've "died" quite a few times!)

Twisty Snake Sculpture! (Template Included)
Do snakes and reptiles set your heart aflutter? A couple of months ago we found a small garden snake sunning in our backyard. Chuck and I watched it slithering away, mesmerized by how it moved. In honor of our reptilian visitor, I'll be sharing 2 easy and fun snake crafts today and tomorrow on the blog.

Glow in the dark Kids Jellyfish Costume
Recently I received several containers of Tulip Glow Paint to try out. As you know, I LOVE making costumes for Chuck. (Remember the spider costume, Lightening McQueen Costume, and Mr. Potato head costume? Yup. Good times.) So I was excited to somehow incorporate the glow in the dark paint into a costume idea. Chuck really loves sea creatures right now, so I made him this easy, NO SEW jellyfish costume.
Oh yeah. And it glows!
Adorable right? Just wait till you see it glowing. It really looks like a jellyfish is sitting on top of his head!
Here's how I made it!

DIY Hedgehog Ring Toss
Do you love hedgehogs? I do! They're such adorable animals. So I'm super excited that my first contribution for MollyMoo will be this super cute DIY Hedgehog Ring Toss Game!
It's made from an old moving box and didn't take very long to make at all. (My kind of craft!) So if you want to make one, I'm sharing directions over here!

3D Paper Plate Lion Mask
One of the coolest things about having a 3 year old is that we've fully entered the wonderful world of imaginative play. I love watching Chuck enact scenes with his toys or pretend to be something else. So far we've made a couple of toys to help encourage his imaginary play like this toilet roll airplane, no sew super hero cape, or cardboard cash register. Lately he's been really enjoying learning about animals, so I made him this lion mask!
This mask was really easy to make AND it's 3D. See how the whiskers, ears, and nose all stand up? Cool, right? If you'd like to see how I made this mask check out my tutorial on Handmade Charlotte over here!
Hope you're having a great weekend!

Origami Black Cat
Halloween is coming! Halloween is coming! My favorite holiday is coming! I love the candy! I love the costumes! I love carving pumpkins! And I especially love the Halloween crafts! So I'm starting off this year's Halloween crafts with this really cute origami Halloween black cat.
The directions for this cat came from the book Horrorgami. I'm definitely an origami newbie, so I wasn't able to do as many of the crafts as I would have liked. But if you love folding paper, this book has a ton of great Halloween-inspired origami.
Ok. Onto the cat craft!

DIY Piggy Bike Basket
When Chuck turned 3 a couple of weeks ago we got him his first 2 wheeler bike. I wasn't sure if he would know what to do with it, but he took to it like a fish to water. He just loves riding it! However, there was just one problem. He couldn't figure out a way to ride the bike AND hold his favorite stuffed pig at the same time. So I told him I would make him a small bike basket. After showing him a couple of designs, he selected a basket that resembled a pig. And that's the story behind this DIY piggy bike basket.
Now I know there are tons of really affordable kid bike baskets out there. But we have a TON of cardboard lying around from our move AND I enjoy making things. So it was a win-win situation. Plus, where else could we get a pig basket?
Ok, enough chatting. Let's get making!
